When things line up, the current changes
In the Amazon, the tide pushes upriver until it meets the current coming down, and the collision throws up a wave that travels inland for miles. Brazilians call it the Pororoca. It happens when the sun, the moon and the earth line up.
Our founders kept coming back to that image, because it describes what this work actually takes.
Four things, lined up.
A young person’s life does not change because one adult tries hard. It changes when four things line up at the same time.
The young person
Their needs, their history, and what they are ready for.
The family
A home with capacity, willingness, and the honesty to keep learning.
The caseworkers
The people coordinating a plan, a court process, and a family’s progress.
The support around them
Therapy, training, respite, and someone who answers the phone.
Any one of those alone is not enough. Lined up, they can change the direction of a life. That is the whole idea behind our name, and it is the standard we hold ourselves to.
What
ALIGN
actually
does.
We license and support foster families across Utah, from the first phone call through every placement that follows. We also provide case management, therapy, medication management and mentoring for the young people in those homes, and we support youth and adults with intellectual disabilities and acquired brain injuries.
Foster care is temporary care. The goal is safety, connection, and a permanent home, and most often that home is the one a child came from. Our job is to make sure that while a young person waits, they are somewhere steady, with adults who were prepared for what they were taking on.

We recruit for readiness, not perfection

You do not have to have parented before, own a home, or have it all figured out. You do have to be teachable, steady, and willing to be part of a team.
We match for fit not speed.
Filling a bed quickly helps nobody. We talk honestly with you about what your family can carry, and we match to that.
We stay after the honeymoon ends
Month four is when families need us most. That is when the call gets answered by someone who already knows your household.
